| Life is One Big Baptism | |
Hello to Everyone,
We often complain about this life; to us it is never good enough--and besides, it is just too hard and filled with too much pain,...right?
For many of us life is a constant struggle; we fight and quarrel and argue and push others aside to succeed and get what we want, or we seek out revenge so as to "pay someone back" for the harm we feel they inflicted on us. We have this illusion that this "life"--the existence of it--is all there is (our sinfulness proves that fact); even though we believe in Christ and His eternal salvation. What is worse we consciously or subconsciously blame God for our lives not turning out the way we "demand" them to be;...amazing!
What truly is life? What is life for? Why are we placed here if all we seem to do is sin and fight and quarrel and so on? I mean, why don't we just go directly to Heaven and be with our Lord Jesus?
You might answer this way: 'Because God wants to give us the enjoyment of life.'
O.K., fine, but is that it? Isn't there more?
Well, you might add: 'Because Jesus wants to work His character in us; we sure can't go to Heaven all sinful, can we?'
That's true, but isn't there more; isn't there something else, too?
You might continue: 'If Satan was cast out of Heaven because of His rebellion along with a third of the Angels, wouldn't that happen to us if we rebelled in Heaven also?'
Yes, but Jesus has promised to make us into a brand new creation, and when He comes we will instantly receive our spiritual bodies and be fully like Him in character, right? Will not we reign with Him?
So why the wait?
So,...what is it?
What truly is life and what is it for?
Is it to learn how to serve Him and to bring Him all the glory? Yes, of course, but is there also something else; are we leaving something out?
In the first statement I said: We often complain about life; to us it is never good enough--and besides, it is just too hard and filled with too much pain!
Why?
You might answer: 'We live in a sinful world; we are the light of Christ living in the darkness of sin. So there has to be conflict, right?'
Yes, but why does it have to be this way? I mean, why can't Jesus just go "poof" and make everything perfect?
May I suggest a topic of discussion:
Life is a baptism; a dying to "self" in Christ, so that Christ can live through us in all manner of conduct and speech.
These trials that Jesus allows in our lives are to help us defeat "self." We sin when we try to hold onto "self." The only way "self" can be defeated is to allow it to die; to undergo a baptism--a complete submersion into the Blood of Christ.
So life is a baptism. To be baptized in Christ is a life processing 'event.' It is more then an act of our faith in a public display of repentance. It is an ongoing process--a continual baptism of "self"--the death or bringing to death the selfishness of sin.
God Bless.
Jesus loves you!
